I’m a student and my lab report is due tonight, so I wrote it as an HTML file with some tables and images. I got it looking right in the browser, but I have no idea how to turn it into a proper PDF my professor can open, and I keep ending up with blank pages and cut-off text on my Windows laptop.

That is annoying when it looks fine in the browser but prints differently. Open the HTML in Chrome or Edge, press Ctrl+P, choose “Save as PDF”, then check More settings for A4 or Letter, margins, and “Background graphics” if your tables use colour. Use Print Preview first and avoid browser zoom; on my old laptop, setting scale to 90% stopped wide tables getting cut off.

Had the same thing last month with some reports. I opened the HTML in Chrome, went to print, and picked Save as PDF, then tweaked the margins so nothing got cut off. Blank pages usually mean an image didn’t load or the layout is forcing extra space, so I would check those first. Not sure if that fixes tables but it worked for me on Windows.

Open the file in Chrome or Edge and press Ctrl+P, then choose “Save as PDF” instead of your printer. Tick “Background graphics” so tables and images show, and leave Margins and Scale on Default so nothing gets cut off. Blank pages usually mean it’s printing a temp copy, so save the file to your laptop and open it from there.

That sounds stressful with your deadline creeping up tonight. I deal with tricky contract layouts all the time, and standard browser printing always makes a mess of them. Your best bet is using [pdfcap.com](http://pdfcap.com) to convert it properly without losing your formatting. Just upload your HTML file there and it will handle the rest. Did you manage to get the report handed in on time?

@someone73063 The scale trick is a lifesaver, I learned that the hard way printing a wide tax form for a patron at the library. My extra tip: after saving the PDF, open it once yourself before emailing it, just to confirm the images acutally came through. One thing to avoid is printing from a file still sitting in a zip folder, that usually breaks the pictures.

first thing i’d try is just using your browser’s print to pdf. in chrome or edge hit ctrl+p, then change the destination to “save as pdf” and check the margins are set to default.

the blank pages and cut off text usually means the page size or margins are off. try setting margins to “minimum” in the print dialog and pick a standard letter or a4 size.

if the tables are splitting awkwardly you might need to switch the scale to like 90 percent in that same dialog. worth a shot before installing anything new.

Just use your browser’s print function, Chrome or Edge both work. Open the HTML, hit print, pick “Save as PDF” and set margins to default, that usually fixes the cut off text.

If images still don’t show, check scale is set to 100 percent before saving.
