I need to add my signature to a PDF on my phone before sending it back today, but I’m not sure what counts as an electronic signature. Can someone explain how it works?
That is annoying when it needs sending back the same day. An electronic signature can be a typed name, a drawn signature, or an image of your handwritten one, depending on what the recipient accepts. On your phone, open the PDF in a signing app, choose Sign or Fill & Sign, add your signature in the right box, then save a copy before emailing it.
Had the same thing last month with a site report. I opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat on my phone and drew my signature with my finger using the sign tool, then saved it. That drawing is an electronic signature, just your mark on the file showing you agree. It worked for me but I am not sure every app does it the same.
On my phone I just open the PDF, tap where the signature goes, and draw it with my finger. Typing your name or pasting a picture of your signature also counts as an electronic signature for most everyday paperwork. If the document needs a notary or witness, though, that part has to be done properly, not just a doodle.
I sign change orders on site all the time, mate. An electronic signature is really just a drawn or typed version of your name placed onto the document. The quickest way is to use pdfcap.com in your mobile browser. You just upload the file, draw your signature with your finger, and hit save. What kind of phone are you using?
@nicholasb23 Good point about the notary part, that trips people up. At the library I tell patrons to save a flattened copy before emailing it back, or the signature can go missing when the form gets reopend. Learned that the hard way with a job application. Also avoid signing a photo of the page, it prints blurry.
