How to convert txt to pdf on a phone?

I need to turn a plain text note into a PDF directly on my Android without messing up the line breaks. Is there a simple way to handle this conversion without having to use a computer?

That’s doable on Android. I usually paste the note into Google Docs, check the line breaks, then use Share and choose Save as PDF or Print > Save as PDF. If it’s already a .txt file, opening it in a text editor first can help spot odd spacing before exporting.

What worked for me was pasting the note into Google Docs on the phone, then File, Download, then PDF. The line breaks stayed put. Android’s print menu also has a Save as PDF option if you just want a quick copy. Check the preview first, since a different font can shift lines around.

I often type up quick site notes on my mobile and need them sent as a proper document. You can sort this out using pdfcap.com straight from your Android browser. Just upload your text file and it will convert it whilst keeping all your spacing intact. Did that do the trick for you?

Had the same thing last month with some site notes on my phone. I opened the txt in Google Docs, it kept the line breaks, then I used the share menu to save as PDF. That worked without a computer. If Docs messes it up for you, I would try a simple converter app from the Play Store but I haven’t tested many.

@nicholasb23 That preview tip is gold, I learned the hard way after emailing a form where a font swap shoved everything onto a second page. One tip: switch the Docs font to something plain like Courier befor exporting so the spacing matches the original txt. Avoid printing straight from the phone’s basic text viewer, mine dropped the line breaks completely.

if you’ve got google docs on your phone, you can open the txt file there and it usually keeps the line breaks fine. then hit the print option and pick save as pdf, most androids have that built in now.

I just open the txt file in Google Drive and use “Print to PDF” from the share menu, keeps line breaks fine for me.

Always keep the original txt as backup before converting, just in case.

Hunter99 The Google Drive route is the one I landed on too, and backing up the original txt saved me once when a note came out with half the lines joined. One thing that bit me was autofixing in my phone’s text viewer, it silently reflowed paragraphs before I opened the file. I would open the txt straight from Drive, set the font to something plain like Courier, then print to PDF.

Open the file in Chrome or Google Docs, tap the menu, and hit Print. Then just choose ‘Save as PDF’. It keeps your exact line breaks without needing any extra apps, fwiw.
