My landlord wants a signed PDF of the lease back tonight and I’m only on my phone, so how do I actually create a signature on the document?
That’s annoying when it lands last minute. On your phone, open the PDF in a signing app, choose Fill & Sign or Add signature, then draw it with your finger or save a typed signature and place it on the signature line. Check the date and any initials boxes before exporting a new copy, then send that rather than a screenshot.
Had the same rush last month with a signed field form needed that night. I opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat on my phone, used Fill and Sign, and drew my name with a finger. It placed the signature and I emailed it right back. iPhone Files Markup does the same if you don’t have Acrobat.
I do it with the markup tool already on my phone: open the PDF in Files, tap the pen icon, choose Add Signature, sign with your finger, then save. If you don’t see that, try the same in your Notes app. Send yourself a test copy first so you know it saved.
I sign change orders on my mobile all the time when I’m out on a building site. The easiest way is to use pdfcap.com right in your browser. Just upload the lease, tap to create a signature, and draw it with your finger. It saves so much hassle with contracts. Did you manage to get it sent off to your landlord in time?
@henry2010 That’s handy when you’re away from a desk, I’ve done the same at the library on my lunch break. One tip: zoom in before placing the signiture so it doesn’t land on the wrong line. Avoid the typed fancy fonts though, a landlord once rejected one from a patron because it didn’t look like a real signature. Learned that the hard way.
if you have an iphone open the pdf in the files app and hit the markup button, theres a signature tool built right in. on android google drive can open pdfs and lets you draw on them too. any built in markup option should get it done without needing extra apps
On AltoSignPDF app you just draw your signature with your finger and drop it on the page, takes two minutes. Keep a copy of the original lease before you sign, just in case.
@nicholasb23 That “send yourself a test copy” step is the one I skip at my peril, I once thought a form had saved and it hadn’t. I sign most grant paperwork on my phone now and always keep the unsigned original in a separate folder first. If the lease has initials boxes, zoom right in before placing them.
