I’ve got a 20-page PDF of diagrams that needs printing as images, but my last try came out fuzzy on the office printer. How do I stop the quality from dropping?
That is annoying, especially with diagrams where fine lines show it straight away. Export or rasterise each page at 300 DPI minimum, or 600 DPI for very detailed drawings, then print the resulting PNG or TIFF files with the printer’s quality setting on High. Also make sure “fit to page” is not shrinking it unnecessarily; I usually print at 100% from the PDF if the original is already sharp.
Had the same thing last month with some field drawings that printed fuzzy. I used Adobe Acrobat, in the print window I hit Advanced and checked Print as Image, then set it to 300 dpi which matched our office printer. That kept the lines sharp on all 20 pages. If you don’t have Acrobat maybe try exporting each page as a high res PNG first and print those.
My old office printer did the same until I dug into the printer’s own dialog and set quality to 600 dpi, plus turned off “scale to fit page”. That fuzzy look came from the driver, not the file. If yours offers a high quality or photo setting, pick that too.
